Sogang University welcomes undergraduate and graduate students from colleges and universities which have a joint academic exchange agreement with Sogang to participate in the student exchange program. Currently, Sogang has joint academic agreements with over 340 partner universities in 64 countries, including many Jesuit universities. Students interested in participating in the student exchange program should contact the Study Abroad Office at their home institution for more information regarding exchange studies abroad to Sogang University. International students participating in the exchange program may register for courses offered in Korean or English to take a maximum of 15 credits per semester. Although the main medium of instruction is Korean, many courses are offered in English, a list of which can be found on the Office of International Affairs website. Exchange students are fully integrated into the regular programs with Korean students. This allows exchange students to experience Korean culture to the fullest extent. All courses offered in the International Korean Studies and the Graduate School of International Studies (GSIS) are lectured in English. Exchange students may also take Korean language courses offered by the Korean Language Education Center. The Office of International Affairs offers full or partial scholarships for the language course.

I really enjoyed my semester as an exchange student at Sogang University. I greatly appreciated planning my own schedule of courses at the GSIS, choosing among the large range of interesting classes such as International Cooperation or Korean culture and society. Moreover, it was a great opportunity to study of GSIS, among other international students and qualified professors. My first visit to Asia, and especially my exchange semester at Sogang University remains a great experience in my student life.

Time may have flown very quickly, but the acquired knowledge I obtained from the Exchange Student Program at Sogang, the common experiences that I shared with friends from my university, and the new found friendships will remain in my heart. I am grateful to Ateneo for providing me this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to be immersed into a new academic atmosphere which has broadened by perspective of the world. If asked what my most cherished memory at college is, without hesitation, I would say, "the timeI was at Sogang."

My great expectations were more than fulfilled. At Sogang University I had the opportunity to select from a wide variety of different courses and lectures, covering mostly the areas of politics, economics, finance and trade. This was all possible in an international learning environment. Furthermore, I took classes at the Korean Language Education Center, which offered me an even deeper look into Korea's culture by learning its language. There too I made friends from lots of different cultural backgrounds.

I wasn't sure what to expect in coming to Korea, but greatly enjoyed my first semester at Sogang. Fortunately, there were many foreign exchange students who shared the same experience which helped me adjust more quickly. One of the best parts about studying at Sogang is the International Student Association, HUG. Fun trips, activities, and free Korean Language tutoring are offered through this club, and it is here that I have met most of my Korean friends. Without a doubt, I can say that my favorite thing about studying at Sogang has been the people I've met and the friends I've made, both foreign and Korean alike!
