Scholarships from Sogang

Global Scholarship Ⅰ, Ⅱ is available for international students. Evaluation standard is based upon students’ academic performance, financial difficulties and potential for growth etc.

Required Documents

Submitted to Office of Financial aid and Student Activities (BW Hall #209)
1. Global Scholarship Ⅰ applicants do not need to submit any documents (Beneficiary will be selected through their grades automatically)
2. Global Scholarship Ⅱ applicants must submit application form, 개인정보 수집활용동의서, and documents for evidential purposes such as proof of family relations, proof of income/property (must be original copy) etc.
  • All documents that are not indicated in English must be translated to Korean. (students can translate on their own)

External Scholarships

GKS Program for Self-financed International Students

1. NIIED (National Institute for International Education) provides GKS Program for Self-financed International Students annually to those with excellent academic performances in order to raise achievement motivation and positive awareness of Korea.

2. Application Period
from the end of January to February every year

3. Scholarship Details
Total Scholarship Amount: KRW 5,000,000 (KRW 500,000 per month)
The GKS scholarship from NIIED is provided to students through Sogang University at the end of every month

4. Application Procedure
visit ‘Study in Korea’ website ( www.studyinkorea.go.kr ), complete online application, and submit required documents to the Office of International Affairs according to the announcement on OIA’s website.

Miscellaneous External Organization Scholarships

1. A number of external institutions (foundation or corporation) also provide scholarships to international students in Korea.
2. The application method, application period, and eligibility for application are different depending on the application guidelines of each institution. Detailed information for each scholarship will be announced on the Sogang University website 「장학공지」 or Office of International Affairs website 「국제학생」bulletin board.

TOPIK test application fee support

Test of Proficiency in Korean (TOPIK) Test Fee Support

Office of International Affairs provides TOPIK test fee support to undergraduate international students who have received level 4 or above. The fee support can only be provided once until their graduation.

Application Procedure for TOPIK Test Fee Refund

1. How to Apply for a Refund of the Test Fee: submit the following documents including the refund application form to the Office of International Affairs within the application period.
2. Required Documents for TOPIK Test Fee Refund:
  • Copy of the TOPIK (level 4 or above) Score Report
  • Original receipt for TOPIK Test Fee Payment
  • Copy of bankbook
  • Copy of Alien Registration Card
  • Completed TOPIK Test Fee Refund application Form

    • 3. SAINT Bank Account Registration
      In order to receive test fee refund, students’ bank account information must be registered on SAINT portal. Please check the bank account information by logging-in to SAINT → 「Student Info」 → 「Bank」 → 「Change」
