Residence Card

Who should apply

Foreigners staying in Korea for more than 90 days
Foreigners who have been granted or permitted to change their status of stay

How to apply

Apply by visiting the local immigration office after making a reservation through HiKorea
Apply through OIA group application at the beginning of every semester(Check the OIA notice board)

Application Documents

  • Application form [Download]
  • Passport
  • 1 color photo (3.5cm*4.5cm, taken within the last 6 months)
  • Certificate of enrollment (can be issued at the One-stop Service Station after the semester starts)
  • Proof of residence (e.g. confirmation of dormitory residence, copy of lease agreement, confirmation of residence, etc.)
  • Fee KRW 30,000

Reissuance of Residence Card

If you need to reissue your residence card, you must visit the local immigration office within 15 days from the date the reason for reissuance occurs.
Failure to report changes within 15 days of the change may result in fines being imposed.

Reasons for reissuance

When residence card is lost or missing
When residence card is damaged and unusable
When there is insufficient space to record the required information
When there are changes to the registered details (such as name, gender, date of birth, or nationality)

Reporting Changes of Details on Residence Card

Registered foreigners must report any changes to detail on their foreigner registration within 15 days from the date of change.
Failure to report may result in fines being imposed.

Changes that must be reported

Name, gender, date of birth or nationality
Passport number, date of issuance or expiration date
Change of school

Change of Address

If there is a change in your residence(address) within Korea, it must be reported to the district office or the local immigration office within 15 days of the moving date.
* Changing rooms within the dormitory is also considered a change of address so please make sure to report it to the immigration office.
